REQUEST FOR 6-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK, MOSQUE, BOREHOLES AND TOILET AT FACKER PRIMARY SCHOOL IN THE PRU WEST DISTRICT OF BONO EAST REGION OF GHANA

DONATE NOW

Prang is one of the prominent Zongo communities in Ghana and the capital of Pru West District dominated by Muslims and also the headquarters of the Tijaniya Muslim Mission. The district is located in the eastern enclave of the Bono East surrounded by Atebubu Manten, Pru East, Sene West, Sene East, Kintampo North and Kintampo South. The enclave has an estimated population of 686,423 (GSS, 2021) is without any orphanage facility resulting to situations of abuse of these vulnerable children.

The area is very deprived faced with a lot of challenges including high poverty rate, high illiteracy rate, unemployment, poor road network, poor health care system, poor and absence of social infrastructure in most part of the district. The district has a huge number of vulnerable groups including orphans, widows and People with Disability. Dreams of these helpless orphans are truncated since they have nowhere to turn to. They either result to peasant farming or engage in social vices that are inimical to society.

Facker Primary School is one of the basic schools in Prang the District Capital, the school has an enrolment of 444 pupils. It lacks basic infrastructure including a structure. Children carry furniture from home to school on daily basis. Teaching and learning are conducted under trees, books and other learning materials are kept in an improvised structure. The school also lack sanitary facilities including potable water. The school is located along the Kumasi-Yeji trunk road a situation that posts security threat to the children and teachers’ life from passing vehicles. Classes are forced to closed any time the weather changes or rain threatened. Several attempts by parents constructing sheds to accommodate learners on temporal basis have all been constantly ripped off by rainstorm. Also the children are also exposed to a lot of destructive encumbrances including passing vehicles and animals.

The situation has led to mass attrition among learners to nearby schools or some drop out completely. This has compelled the District Directorate of Education to seek funding from development partners to help provide descent structure that will accommodate the learners and provide other associated amenities such as water and toilet facilities. The lack of toilet facility and water is also a situation that has created constant outbreak of communicable diseases such as typhoid, cholera and diarrhoea among others and this are verifiable at the district health directorate

The proposed facility is expected to provide suitable learning environment for the teeming youth who are without any form of formal education. It is also expected to reduce the rate of rural urban migration and mass exodus of the youth from the community.

I write in official capacity as the Executive Director of NeedsCare Foundation Ghana to request for the above mentioned projects to serve the vulnerable communities of my constituency and the entire Bono-East Region of Ghana.

I pray for God grant donors and sponsors the required resources to help close our current socioeconomic and other developmental needs gaps through this project and its attached facilities in our district Muslim dominated community.

We count on your usual kind cooperation.
